UK Advertisers Get Access
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Ads Manager in the UK, giving British advertisers direct access to advertising inside ChatGPT for the first time.
ChatGPT ads first began testing in the US at the start of 2026. They appear at the bottom of responses, are clearly labelled and only show when a sponsored product or service is relevant to the conversation. Ads are shown to logged-in adult users on the free tier and the low-cost Go plan, while paid Pro, Business and Enterprise users do not see them.
Why It Matters
For UK businesses, this is an early chance to learn and prepare for what could become a major new ad channel. ChatGPT placements sit inside conversations where people are actively asking questions and weighing up decisions, which is a high-intent moment that traditional display and social ads rarely reach.
Being early has real advantages. Competition is lower, costs are likely to be more favourable, and the lessons you learn about what works in conversational advertising will be valuable as the channel matures.
What You Should Do
Treat it as a test, not a full channel yet. Set aside a modest budget, choose products or services with clear intent behind them and make sure conversion tracking is in place before launching.
Write ads that are genuinely helpful and relevant to the questions your customers ask, because ChatGPT only shows ads that fit the conversation. And measure against your existing channels so you can judge whether it earns a bigger slice of the budget. Our PPC team can set up a structured test for you, and you can read about the wider international rollout too.
