ChatGPT Ads Go International
OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Ads Manager in the UK, making it the first European market for ChatGPT ads.
ChatGPT ads first began testing in the US at the start of 2026. They appear at the bottom of responses, are clearly labeled, and only show when a sponsored product or service is relevant to the conversation. Ads are shown to logged-in adult users on the free tier and the low-cost Go plan, while paid Pro, Business, and Enterprise users do not see them.
Why It Matters
The UK launch is a clear sign that OpenAI sees advertising as a global business, not a US experiment. For US advertisers with international ambitions, it means ChatGPT could soon become a channel for reaching customers in multiple markets from a single platform.
It also confirms the direction of travel. ChatGPT placements sit inside conversations where people are actively asking questions and weighing up decisions, which is a high-intent moment that traditional display and social ads rarely reach.
What You Should Do
If you are already testing ChatGPT ads in the US, document what works now, because those lessons will transfer as the platform expands to other markets.
If you have not started, set aside a modest test budget, choose products or services with clear intent behind them, and make sure conversion tracking is in place before launching. Write ads that are genuinely helpful and relevant to the questions your customers ask, because ChatGPT only shows ads that fit the conversation. Our PPC team can set up a structured test for you, and you can read about the wider international rollout too.
